Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the different bundles options?

We offer 4 different bundle options, with different inks and transfer paper options.

The basic option is the SG500 Printer with Install Kit which includes Sawgrass SubliJet-UHD Ink, and WALASub Paper 8.5x11 being the bundle that also includes transfer paper as an add-on.

The last two options include bundles with Siser EasySubli, an alternative sublimation ink option for your Sawgrass printer.  Learn more about deciding between Siser EasySubli vs Sawgrass SubliJet-UHD inks.

Can I use the bypass tray with the SG500?

The Sawgrass Bypass Tray allows you to make larger prints and bigger paper, 8.5 x 51” for the SG500 (same width) and up to 13 x 51” for the SG1000. The Bypass tray is only able to extend the width of prints on the SG1000 model printer.  While technically compatible with the SG500, it does not extend the width, and only supports the existing 8.5” width capacity with a total dimension support of  8.5” x 51”

What kind of computer or software do I need to run the SG500?
Computer: Windows 11, Windows 10 (recommended), Windows 8, 8.1, 10, Mac OC 10.14 or later. Recommended RAM 8GB, Min 2G. As for software, Sawgrass Print Manager comes free with the purchase of a Sawgrass printer along with Sawgrass Creative Studio

How big of a print can I print with the SG500?
There are two sizes you can print with the SG500. You can print 8.5x11 and 8.4x14.

You can use the SG500 Bypass tray to print up to 8.5 x 51”.

If you are hoping to print larger sizes, this is one of the main differences with the bigger SG1000 model which can print up to  11” x 17” with the standard tray, and up to 13”x51” with the addition of the Sawgrass bypass tray.

Can I switch my ink type?
Since ink conversion can be extremely hard on the printhead, and run the risk of chemical mixture and clogging, changing ink types (i.e Chromablast, SubliJet, EasySubli) can cause major damage to the printhead and, for this reason, will void the remainder of the warranty. So, it is possible to switch inks but the warranty will be voided and you run the risk of printhead damage.

Should I get the Siser EasySubli or Sawgrass SubliJet-UHD Ink Bundle?
EasySubli inks are optimized for use with Siser EasySubli. SubliJet inks are optimized for the highest quality prints for sublimation directly to polyester

We recommend considering what you will primarily be printing on and how you will be transferring your sublimation prints.

EasySubli Inks are optimized for use with Siser EasySubli Sublimation paper, and recommended if that is your primary method for sublimation.  Learn More about Siser EasySubli Here

Sawgrass SubliJet Inks are the Sawgrass standard inks, and are optimized for the highest quality prints for sublimation directly to polyester.

Why are the ink levels not 100% on my new printer?
The first time your ink is placed into your printer, it pulls the ink into the cartridges and fills your ink lines. This can cause the ink levels to not read 100 %. Don't worry, the missing percentage of your ink is in your printer ready to use.

How many prints can I get out of my ink cartridges?
Since everyone doesn't print the same images because of this estimating the number of prints that can be achieved on a single set of cartridges is not possible

Do I need to leave my printer powered on? Why?
When the printer is powered off the printer won't be able to run automatic maintenance cycles. these cycles are important to keep your printer in the best condition and to prevent clogging within the printer lines.

What materials can I press with my printer?
You can use TexPrint-Sawgrass Sublimation Paper, TexPrintDT Light Epson Sublimation Paper, WALASub Paper, and Siser EasySubli Sheets to press onto white and light colored polyester garments.

How do I contact Sawgrass if my printer is experiencing issues?
You can contact and file a ticket with Sawgrass on their website https://www.sawgrassink.com/.

Is there a way to get more vibrant prints?
Yes, there are two ways of doing this. You can increase the saturation of your artwork in the design software you created it in. Another way of increasing the vibrancy of images printed is in the Sawgrass Print Manager. Before you click the print button you will be able to manage the saturation levels of the image you are about to print. Adjust this to what you would like it to be and the click print.
